Obituary – Owek. Isaac B. Kalembe Akiiki.
Kabalega Foundation deeply mourns the passing of Owek. Isaac B. Kalembe Akiiki, a distinguished historian, author, cultural enthusiast, and former Speaker (Omutalindwa) of the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom Parliament (Orukurato).
Owek. Kalembe served as a Research and Documentation Associate with Kabalega Foundation, making a significant contribution to documenting, preserving, and promoting the history, culture, and heritage of Bunyoro-Kitara.
Among his notable works is Omukama Cwa II Kabaleega: A Life and Legacy, 1853–1923, alongside numerous other contributions to the documentation and appreciation of Bunyoro-Kitara’s rich historical heritage.
The Foundation extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom, and the entire Bunyoro community. His wisdom, service, scholarship, and unwavering passion for our heritage will be deeply missed.
Through his scholarship and works, his legacy will live on.
May God grant his soul eternal rest. 🕯️
