2025 Events
Kabalega Independence Memorial Week 2025
Scheduled for October 01 - 04th, 2025 in Hoima city, Kabalega Independence Week 2025 is organized under the theme "Celebrating Culture, Spurring Innovation & Community Transformation". The events, organized in partnership with Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom, and Hoima City Council,will feature a series of activities as detailed below;

The legacy we cherish and celebrate
Omukama Cwa II Kabalega
Omukama Chwa II Kabalega (June 18, 1853 – April 6, 1923), was the 23rd king/ruler (Omukama) of Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom in Uganda from 1870 to 1899, most notably remembered for his great developmental rule that transformed Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom and restoration of it’s former glory, but also for his resistance to colonialism. He was posthumously declared national hero in 2009. Many regional, and national establishments are named in his honor, and his legacy continues to inspire present generations

KABALEGA CULTURAL SQUARE PROJECT
The Kabalega Cultural Square is a visionary project dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Omukama Cwa II Kabalega and the people of Bunyoro. Designed as a vibrant public space, it will host cultural exhibitions, educational programs, and community events that foster identity, unity, and intergenerational learning. The project serves as a living tribute to Kabalega’s legacy, and landmark inspiring pride and progress for present and future generations.
