Kabalega Independence Run 2024: A Celebration of a Hero’s Legacy for a Greener Future

Hoima, Uganda – October 6, 2024 – The Kabalega Independence Run 2024 took place at Hoima Booma Grounds, drawing participants of all ages under the inspiring theme, “Run to Celebrate a Hero’s Legacy. Run for a Green Future.” Organized by Kabalega Foundation in partnership with Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom, the event aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation under the Green Future Campaign Programme that the Foundation is spearheading from September 2024 to September 2025.

The chief runner for this year’s event was the esteemed Omujwarakondo Dr. F. Kabagambe Kaliisa, the Chairperson – Royal Commission, Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom, who led the participants in a spirited run through the scenic landscapes of Hoima. The event featured speeches from local leaders, sponsors, and partners, who all echoed and emphasized the importance of preserving the environment and celebrating, the rich heritage of the region.

In addition to the run, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a blood donation drive organized by Uganda Blood Transfusion Services, highlighting the event’s commitment to community health and solidarity.

The Kabalega Independence Run attracted both individual and corporate runners, showcasing a united front for in the cause to fight climate change that transcends generations.

Other event partners included; Hoima City Council, Uganda Police Force, Uganda Blood Transfusion Services, Uganda Redcross Society, Development Revolvers Ltd, City Ambulance Ltd., Regal Marketing Agency, among others.

The event also featured a blood donation drive by Uganda Blood Transfusion Services, supported by Uganda Red Cross Society.
