Who We Are

We are a Trust / Foundation registered to preserve and promote the legacy of
Omukama Cwa II Kabalega through service.

Together with partners and local communities in Uganda, we work to find practical, innovative ways for people to lift themselves out of poverty and thrive. We save lives and help rebuild livelihoods when crisis strikes and we campaign so that the voices of the community influence local and global decisions that affect them.

We understand that many causes of society problems are linked, and we use a multifaceted approach to addressing them. From local communities to the global stage. We operate, advocate for and support programmes that we believe present a better chance for wholistic community development. These include;

  1. Civic Advocacy and Engagement
  2. Cultural Research, Documentation, and Promotion
  3.  Environmental Protection
  4.  Water, Health and Sanitation
  5. Education and Life Skills Development
  6. Livelihood Improvement Programmes

Our Priorities

Kabalega Foundation’s strategic goals include contributing to achieving more profound and lasting change in the lives of people in communities where we operate. We aspire to create a world where everyone thrives and achieves their best potential, with special emphasis and focus on women, children, person’s with disabilities, and youth in our programme interventions, and with special attention to pressing issues such as climate change, youth employment, and a violent free society, promotion of human rights as enshrined in the constitution of Uganda, and response to humanitarian crises.

Operating at national level, we harness diverse skillsets of our staff and partners operating in areas of advocacy, social development, and humanitarian interventions in order to achieve the change we desire to see. We do this by building networks, platforms and coalitions with like-minded civil society actors with whom we tackle critical and pressing interventions, campaign and lobby duty-bearers to act of pressing social issues so as to bring about the change we desire to see. Kabalega Foundation also supports and engages in global campaigns of interest to the communities we serve, guaranteeing that Uganda is represented on the world’s most pressing issues.
